Since the majors have found in the so-called indipendent music a source for business (that's happened since the end of the '90) this kind of music has lost its flavour. Today we have "indie majors" that are better than the others from a certain point of view (e.g. Fugazi's Dischord Records) but the image of a band playing in their garage and selling the CDs just at the concerts is rare. Wrapping it up, from a pure point of view, Bloc Party are not indie at all. From a practical point of view, they are more indie than Britney Spears or other similar mainstreams... but the most indie band that I know is.... Huey Lewis and The News!!!!
