Ciao dears,
today is the last day of this looong October full of things, travels, work, music and so on and on.
To release the accumulated stress and start the new month in a powerful way, today we talk about the Rancid
This US band from California was formed in 1991 by Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman and they are part of the musical phenomenon related to the “Californian punk music”, together with other bands like Off Springs, Green Day and NOFX.
The band released something like 6 albums and a new one is about to come in 2008, while since 2004 some of the band’s components started their own parallel projects (like the band “The Transplants” or the Armstrong’s recent solo album “A poet’s Life”).
Mainly known for songs like the ska-punk song “Time bomb” but also the punk songs “Salvation”, “Fall Back Down” and the one that I prefer and that we will listen today, “Ruby Soho”:
Punk it! Domenico
Echoes of reggae comin’ through my bedroom wall
havin’ a party up next door but i’m sittin here all alone
two lovers in the bedroom and the other starts to shout
all i got is this blank stare and that don’t carry no clout at all
[Chorus]
Destination unknown
Ruby ruby ruby ruby soho
[x2]
He’s singin and she’s there to lend a hand
he’s seen his name on the marquee but she will never understand
once again he’s leavin’ and she’s there with a tear in her eye
embraces with a warm gesture it’s time, time to say goodbye
[Chorus]
Ruby’s heart ain’t beatin cause she knows the feelin’ is gone
she’s not the only one who knew there’s somethin’ wrong
her lover’s in the distance as she wipes a tear from her eye
ruby’s fading out, she disappears, it’s time, time to say goodbye
[Chorus]
Ruby ruby ruby ruby soho
Ruby ruby ruby ruby soho
Ruby ruby ruby ruby soho
Ruby ruby ruby ruby soho
Destination unknown (Ruby ruby ruby ruby soho)
Ruby ruby ruby ruby soho
[x2]
You know punk never really died on the west coast of North America…holy Clash influence! Much better than that crap that Green Day churns out.
