Finally, end of the week! Tonight I’m flying to Barcelona and I’m happy to meet Antonio and enjoy Spain for more than a week. Hope to be able to attend thre concerts I’ve already identified, that are Tricky, Los Campesinos! and Joan As A Police Woman… let’s see.

Today I discovered a band I didn’t know (actually I still don’t) and I thought their music fits with the usual Friday’s post. This band is named Pendulum.

I just know the following and, for the time being, it’s enough to me: They are Australian, are around since 6 years or so and play drum’n'bass. Actually, listening to the song I found on the web, they also somehow remind me of Asian Dub Foundation. As I still have to do my luggage… I stop writing and let you enjoying the cool video for the song “Slam”:

Enjoy the weekend, Domenico

As promised, we’re back on track. One page like yesterday’s one was (maybe) more than enogh. Today I got a lot of stuffs to do. A lot of small things to care about before the end of this short week. Before tomorrow, when I’m flying to Barcelona for a great event, that is the Microsoft TechEd. Sounds cool. On top of that, I’m going to see my Salentino brother, Mr. Antonio “Boom boom” Rucco, who will join for the weekend “en la tierra del sol”!

When starting writing today’s post I had a clear question in mind “How many children had Bob Marley?”

Honestly speaking I just new the most famous one, Ziggy Marley (I also bought his album long time ago, when I was about 14-years-old and had the possibility to spend all my weekly money in something valuable and I was happy to choose a tape or a LP). Then recently I found that, this guy had 13 children (!!!)

And here we go with Imani Carole, Sharon, Cedella, Ziggy, Steven, Robbie, Rohan, Karen, Stephanie, Julian, Ky-Mani, Makeda. Wait a minute, I said 13… then I forgot the one today I’d like to post one song, that is Damian Marley.

Looking around on Youtube I found his sound somehow fresh, but some of his songs still keeping the pace with the old school ragga tradition. The song I’d like to share with you is “Still Searching”:

Peace. Domenico

WARNING: Stop reading the following in case you realize you’re not in the same mood. Maybe you’ll continue later, maybe on another day.

I’m sitting in front of my desktop. Just finished to watch one episode from Heroes season 3. Gorgeous. Looking to the next day to come. Thinking a lot. Not thinking at all. This is the one and only page I’ll use as a container to fill with some recent feelings. Without talking specifically about them. Who knows, does understand what I’m talking about.

Decisions are always steps towards something. On the contrary, their absence can only let you still in the water you float. Then at a certain point in time, you watch yourself while yourself is watching his/her own life as a witness, not as an actor. And that instant, that’s the one who gives you the opportunity to do something. Right or wrong, you don’t know yet, but something. That’s because life is just made or little moments, some more significant, some less, but (hopefully) none of them just useless.

“Was it too deep?” Said the diver to the audience. “Did I jump too high?”. The answer is in the fall. The answer is in each of us. And it’s always different. And it’s always wrong. And it’s always right. Who’s anyone else to judge. As Bob Marley used to say in an old song, “Time will tell”.

Thanks for been arrived at this point of today’s post. Sorry for been arrived at this point of this post, without finding what you usually expect. Yesterday a great friend of mine asked me to give him some more. Well, I should, indeed. But not every day fits for that. Not every song, not every artist. In the long run, everything is boring, unless you do not change it a little bit, you need to keep the attention high. Easy to say. Hard to do… constantly. And maybe the days where this BLOG seems to be less interesting. Those transparent days are useful for some other pages, like this one, to stand out and express themselves and… therefore… myself.

Today Busta Rhymes helps me to do what my friend asked, to “Gimme Some Mo”:

Hey, as you would have just realized, yesterday it was holyday (at least for people here) and therefore I put something short from a previous band. Today it’s the first day of the short week that will lead me to Barcelona.

Today we talk about Amos Lee.

Amos Lee is younger than me and younger than my brother. He’s 30-yrs-old and he is a singer-songwriter and guitarist from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His musical style encompasses folk, soul, and jazz. He has released three albums. He has been on tour with musicians such as Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, Norah Jones, Paul Simon, and Merle Haggard. Some of his musical influences include Stevie Wonder, John Prine, Bill Withers, and James Taylor.

I agree with the girl from Rumore, who wrote that “if the World was a better place, Amos Lee should have the same success as Ben Harper”… but apparently this is not the best of the possible worlds.

I found this song, “Arms of a Woman”, and wanted to share it with you:

Here we are with the rhythmic session of a week that was mainly centered on a rock musical selection. The weekend always brings something good, it’s important to stress this point. The only detail is that sometimes it’s difficult to identify what it is. Too many thoughts and impressions circulated so far in my mind, like little whispers while walking in a forest.

Today we talk about an artist I discovered while preparing the music for last party. Nas.

Nasir Jones, better known by his stage name Nas, is an American rapper and he has my age. Son of jazz musician, he was born and raised in the Queensbridge housing projects in New York City. His debut album “Illmatic” was a critically-acclaimed bestseller and would go on to be widely hailed a classic. Nas was part of “The Firm”, a hip-hop super-group that also included rappers AZ, Foxy Brown, and Nature. However, the group released only one album together.

From 2001 to 2005, Nas was involved in a contest with rapper Jay-Z; both rappers verbally attacked each other in their songs. The two formally ended their rivalry through duet performances at concerts sponsored by New York City-area hip-hop radio stations. Then, lately, Nas signed to Jay-Z’s label Def Jam… Life is strange, sometimes.

As I said in the beginning, I discovered this artist just lately; not that I never heard about him but simply never paid too much attention to his music. I found a few of his songs quite interesting and decided to publish “Get Down” from the album “God’s Son”:

Today we talk about The Spinto Band.

You Italians (or Italian speakers) would probably agree on the fact that their name can let you think about an Italian band. But they’re not. They come from US, Wilmington, Delaware. Six of them, playing rock. Well, I’d say more pop (rock). Already 6 albums and a couple of EPs in a 10 years career. They went on tour with bands like The Arctic Monkeys and The Kooks. They are nice and soft and, while I just heard of them and listened to three of their songs, somehow cute.

The main hit comes from the previous album “Nice and Nicely Done”. The song I refer to is “Oh Mandy”:

Midweek. Quite numb. Due to some of the following things: Too much sport? (Maybe) Too few sport (most probably) Too much thinking? (I know it’s hard to believe) The weather? Maybe I got a cold? The biorhythm? The stars? Too many questions.

Let’s be focus on the important things like this BLOG. Today we talk about The White Stripes.

I’m pretty sure most of you know this band for their most famous song “Seven Nation Army” but some do not associate the song to the band. Just a few info for those ones. They’re American (from Detroit), they’re are two (Jack White (vocals and guitar) and Meg White (drums)), they play garage rock since more than 10 years. The White Stripes use a low-fidelity, do-it-yourself approach to writing and recording, and utilize a simplified color scheme of red, white, and black for their imagery, instruments and clothing.

Besides the most famous song I’ve mentioned, there is another one, “I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself” that comes from the same album “Elephant”. The video is directed by Sofia Coppola and there is a sexy Kate Moss, a cube and a pole:
