I can imagine (or I like to think so) that most of you will be thinking “What will come after the reggae week?”
I have several answers to this question:
1) for sure not another one (or at least not in a row)
2) for sure nothing reggae for some days
3) I don’t know yet
4) I decided what to post
Today we have M. Ward.
M. Ward (real name Matt Ward) was previously with the band Rodriguez, who released the album “Swing Like a Metronome” in 2000. His talent was also recognized by Howe Gelb whoe released one of his albums. Moreover he was guest star on recent recordings by “The Court & Spark”, “Bright Eyes”, “Jenny Lewis” and “My Morning Jacket”.
I can define his songs as pop-intimate-country-folk. Regarding the types of music he grew up listening to, Ward said: “My dad turned me onto Johnny Cash. He was always into gospel and country,” Ward said. “My mom listened to classical music.”.
I like the following song, that is “Chinese Translation”, and I hope you will too:
Domenico

nice song, easy going…
you can hear johnny cash sound in some parts
neat, nothing special, but nice sweet sound for a monday morning…
I sailed a wild, wild sea
climbed up a tall, tall mountain
I met a old, old man
beneath a weeping willow tree
He said now if you got some questions
go and lay them at my feet
but my time here is brief
so you’ll have to pick just three
And I said
What do you do with the pieces of a broken heart
and how can a man like me remain in the light
and if life is really as short as they say
then why is the night so long
and then the sun went down
and he sang for me this song
See I once was a young fool like you
afraid to do the things
that I knew I had to do
So I played an escapade just like you
I played an escapade just like you
I sailed a wild, wild sea
climbed up a tall, tall mountain
I met an old, old man
he sat beneath a sapling tree
He said now if you got some questions
go and lay them at my feet
but my time here is brief
so you’ll have to pick just three
And I said
What do you do with the pieces of a broken heart
and how can a man like me remain in the light
and if life is really as short as they say
then why is the night so long
and then the sun went down
and he played for me this song
cute…
