He+She=They May 12, 2009

Posted by Domenico in Music.

OK, I was late and forgot to put the blog for today but, and I say but, I will try to make it in the next 5 minutes. Shall I reach to do that? let us see…

Today we talk about a band whose one of the components belongs to yesterday’s POST. Today we talk about She & Him.

This American indie-folk band is mad of the actress Zooey Deschanel and the musician M. Ward (the one from yesterday). The pair first met in 2006 for a movie soundtrack project for the film ‘The Go-Getter’ in which they recorded a version of Richard and Linda Thompson’s “When I Get To The Border”.
The story so far is:
1) She wrote her own songs, which she recorded alone at home on her computer.
2) Somewhat shy about sharing these musical pieces, she was eventually persuaded to send them to M.
3) He was instantly impressed by the songs!
4) They soon reconvened at his studio in Oregon to begin work.
5) It took several months, between acting work (She) and touring commitments (Him), to complete the final project.

I selected the song “Why Do You Let Me Stay Here”:

mmmm, somehow doesnt leave any special impression. easy, cute, but nothing special…
any chances to have pearl jam week? 😀

2. Domenico - May 12, 2009

that would be an interesting topic for a full week…maybe with a wider scope…

3. Gio - May 12, 2009

mmmh … the music was a bit of a disappointment, the lyrics looked nice …

Why do let me stay here?
All by myself
Why don’t you come and play here?
I’m just sitting on the shelf

Why don’t you sit right down and stay awhile?
We like the same things and I like your style
Its not a secret; why do you keep it?
I’m just sitting on the shelf

I got to get your presence
Let’s make it known
I think you’re just so pleasant
I would like you for my own

Why don’t you sit right down and make me smile? (uh huh)
You make me feel like I am just a child
Why do you end it?
Just give me credit
I’m just sitting on the shelf

I pass…
